DID YOU KNOW?
Did you know that the JW Player is named after the founder, Jeroen Wijering? Since its release in 2005, JW Player has been a pioneer among online video players. It was the first embeddable web player, the first HTML 5 web player, the first Chromecast web player, and the first web player with 360 video support. Before Google bought YouTube in 2006, the first version of the video streaming site was using JW Player to play content. People back then are so excited to download JW Player.
At present, the JW Player is used in 193 countries. In 2017 alone, the player was used for 168 billion plays in more than two billion websites. This translates to 489 million hours of time watched, or 55,822 years of playtime. With a lot of video playing apps available on the web nowadays, most people still find sites that provides JW player downloader.
With the constant rise in online activity, downloads are becoming much more common. Despite the questionable ethics of 'pirating', plenty of people still choose to download files from the internet. This is mainly due to the fact that downloads don't usually require payments and can be done for free. The problem is so widespread that netizens are finding ways on how to download embedded videos, private photos, and even newly-released movies.

Soooo there's plenty of bands out there that offer all of their music for free on their website utilizing JPlayer. The problem is say when I'm on my phone I can hit coverage dead zones & can't enjoy them anymore. The way it's designed is to keep the original files protected from access so that they cannot be downloaded. They do this using a number of different methods, most of which for some reason defeat the major downloader addons in browsers like Firefox. (what I'm using in this example)
Now I spent sometime reading over at Stack Overflow & trying different tools to solve this problem. It seemed like a relativity simple situation; there's a file that's playing right now, I want access to the original copy, & within the data infront of me there's a way to make that happen. I honestly didn't understand why most addons didn't just pull it up immediately. The simplest of solutions people discussed when I googled this was to just record the incoming stream. Though that seemed painful to me, I want the original, not some crappy rerecording I made. Not to mention the time investment in making 1:1 copies as you played each track. Give me a break! So I dicked around with it for a while. Now I'm by no means an expert, just some guy with a laptop, so when I present the novice fix to this problem feel free to laugh & post your own much better more eloquent solution. Though for anyone coming in from google searching like I did that ends up here wanting to simply grab a track or two, here's a quick manner of doing so.
Lets take the extremely not safe for work band SHAT, now I'm just using this as an example because it's literally what I was listening to. Though as another preventive heads up, SHAT (Vice NSFW) is a hyper-sexualized, vulgar, punk/???/rock band covered in diapers, baby masks, & dildos. I would not open their website or music up infront of your wife, kids, or heaven forbid at work. Anyways, I'm listening to their album 'Cuntree' & lets just take the song 'Computer Girl' for example. When you try to do the most obvious & simple manner of saving the file you see it's URL is 'http://www.sonnyvandeputte.be/sites/default/files/music/Dan%20vlieg%20je_MASTER_0.mp3'. While being an MP3 file you can tell this is not at all what you're looking for. The next logical step to me was opening up the page's source code, where you'll find:

While being an MP3 file you can tell this is not at all what you're looking for. The next logical step to me was opening up the page's source code, where you'll find:
Now outside of being a good read that's not really a solution to the problem. You can see some of the URL's are actually the same, but the ID & Tabindexs are different. If you google integrating this player into your own website then you'll find those are all keys in the process of getting to the file that the player ends up opening & finally streaming to you. Once again this doesn't really help the normal ol'joe in downloading what they're looking for. Clicking around on the player itself doesn't do anything as it's obviously not designed to just give away the file.
So what do we do? We click the song you're trying to download, in this case 'Computer Girl' & wait for it to start playing. Then from the top left edge to bottom right hand corner we highlight the entire player. In my case it'll flicker on the total track time but you're in the butter zone if the current track time is highlighted. Then we right click & select 'View Selection Source' like so:
Download Audio File From Jw Player
This will pull up the current source of the player, not the pages original source. Where we find:
See what I see under audio source? The location of the file it's playing is actually: 'http://www.shatnj.com/wordpress/wp-content/themes/H5/songs/cuntree/31ComputerGirl.mp3'. Now that's more like it. After doing a couple songs you can notice the webmaster used a simple naming scheme in this directory for all the files over the album. While you cannot pull up a directory index of this folder (for obvious reasons) you can directly access each song via these URLs. Kinda funny you can even download a couple of the songs that are broken on the websites actual player. (like #4 Double, Double Chin which I'd never heard until now) You'll also notice a handful of typos in the presented song titles vs. their actual download titles if you were copy and pasting from the track list.
Anyways I tried this on a few other websites and it worked the same. A very simple solution to a problem that people have wasted way to much time on. I guess the quickest manner would be just buying the album & supporting the artist. I mean album purchases aside I gotta say if you've not seen SHAT live. then well. you're clearly missing out.
